(-10) × 2 + 0 ÷ (-2) is equal to

Solution:

(-10) × 2 + 0 – (-2) = -20 + 0 = -20 (a)

The sum of a rational number \(\frac { -1 }{ 2 }\) and its multiplicative inverse is

(c) -2\(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\)

(d) -2

Solution:

Sum of \(\frac { -1 }{ 2 }\) and its multiplication inverse

\(\frac { -1 }{ 2 }\) + \(\frac { -2 }{ 1 }\)

= \(\frac { -5 }{ 2 }\)

= -2\(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) (c)

Question 3.

Evaluate: (-36) ÷ ((-14) + 2).

Solution:

(-36) ÷ (-14 + 2)

(-36) ÷ (-12) = 3

Question 4.

If the length of a rectangle is 8.26 cm and its breadth is 5.5 cm, then find the area of the rectangle.

Solution:

Length of a rectangle = 8.26 cm

Breadth = 5.5 cm

Area = Length × Breadth

= 8.26 × 5.5 sq cm

= 45.430

= 45.43 sq cm

Question 5.

Reduce the rational number \(\frac { 105 }{ -168 }\) standard form.

Solution:

\(\frac { 105 }{ -168 }\)

LCM of 105 and 168 = 21

\(\frac { 105\div \left( -21 \right) }{ -168\div \left( -21 \right) } =\frac { -5 }{ 8 }\)

Question 6.

In a competition, the question paper consists of 20 questions. 5 marks are awarded for every correct answer and 2 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer and 0 marks for every question not attempted. Vishal attempted 17 questions and got 11 correct answers. What is his score?

Solution:

Number of total questions = 20

Award for a correct answer = 5

and deduction for incorrect answer = 2

Marks for not attempting of a question = 0

Vishal attempted 17 questions and got 11 correct answers

His total award = 11 × 5 – (17- 11) × 2 + 3 × 0

= 55 – 6 × 2 + 0

= 55 – 12 + 0

= 43 marks

Question 7.

Barkha bought 20\(\frac { 3 }{ 8 }\) kg rice at the rate of ₹ 17\(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) per kg and sent it to an orphanage. Find the amount spent by Barkha. What value is being promoted?

Solution:

From A, Simran walks, 1\(\frac { 5 }{ 12 }\) km towoards north

and then towards 2\(\frac { 7 }{ 9 }\) km towards south.

Question 10.

If the product of two decimal numbers is 17.55 and one of them is 2.7, then find the other.

Solution:

Product of two decimal numbers = 17.55

One number = 2.7

Second number = 17.55 ÷ 2.7

= \(\frac { 1755 }{ 270 }\)

= 6.5
